Mardi Gras Drinks

Mardi Gras means fat Tuesday and it wouldn’t be Mardi Gras without a cocktail! The drinks will certainly be flowing until 12 o’clock Tuesday night when the party officially ends. So even if you can’t make it down to the Big Easy to celebrate, we have some classic Mardi Gras drinks you can enjoy locally.

 

Bar Comber

Brandy Milk Punch

  • 2 oz brandy (Bourbon )
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 3 ice cubes
  • cracked ice
  • freshly grated nutmeg

 

 

Combine the brandy, milk, and sugar with 3 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and shake until frothy-about one minute. Strain into a double-old fashioned glass with cracked ice. Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve.

Hurricane

  • 1  jigger amaretto liqueur
  • 1 fluid ounce light rum
  • 1 fluid ounce dark rum
  • 6 fluid ounces orange juice
  • 6 fluid ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 dash grenadine syrup
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 1 maraschino cherry

 

Fill a 16 ounce glass with ice. Pour in amaretto, light rum and dark rum, then pour in orange juice, pineapple juice, and lemon juice. Stir, then top with a dash of grenadine and garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

Sazerac

  • 1/4 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 2 oz  licorice liqueur
  • 1 dash  bitters
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 twist lemon peel

 

 

 

Place a sugar cube into an old-fashioned glass, and saturate with bitters. Add ice cubes, pour in liquors, and add a twist of lemon peel. Fill with water, stir well, and serve.
